So after finally finishing on Rutherford & Son – which I believe lasted for at least 20 years – I am finally working on my next batch of projects… and they are great ones to be involved on –
1. BLOOD + CHOCOLATE – This is going to be a great production. Three of the most dynamic theatre companies in the North of England – Slung Low, Pilot Theatre and York Theatre Royal working together on a promenade production around the City of York. Set in 1914 it tells the inspiring stories of the Chocolate factories and the people of York during the First World War. It has a cracking cast of 200… yes 200 professional and community actors. The professional actors including Richard Standing who was brilliant in Northern Broadsides Rutherford & Son (you see everything comes back to Rutherford & Son). Oh and before I forget there will be plenty of Chocolate inspired PR opportunities.
2. Broadsides are back – This time with Deborah McAndrew’s take on Erdman’s The Suicide entitles THE GRAND GESTURE. I have read Deborah’s scrip and it is very funny. At with Conrad Nelson, associate director of Northern Broadsides, at the helm it’s going to be a real cracker. If you loved last year’s A Government Inspector you will love this one. The production opens at Harrogate Theatre from 6-21 Sep and then tours the UK
3. Another company I really enjoy working with are Leeds based theatre company tutti frutti, who specialise in work for young children. This Sept they will be staging their latest production THE BOY WHO CRIED WOLF. The production, which is being adapted by Mike Kenny (who has also written BLOOD + CHOCOLATE) opens at York Theatre Royal from 26 Sep-13 Oct and then tours till Jan 2014.
4. Finally in November I will be working with Manchester theatre company Box of Tricks on their first national tour – Tom Moreton-Smith’s IN DOGGERLAND. The production will be touring the UK for the whole of November.
So, I guess I better crack on with things!!
