‘I’m dazzled and delighted by the superb coverage that Duncan Clarke has generated for the Ice Cream Opera, ensuring that everybody knows about us and everybody wants to know more about us. The work of some PR companies melts away like a small cornet in the sun but Duncan’s work has the staying power of a triple 99 with three flakes in!’Ian McMillan – Ice Cream Opera
It has been a pleasure working with Duncan. We wanted to maximize the press opportunities for our world premiere production of Timberlake Wertenbaker’s new play and working with Duncan has definitely insured that we have. I am very impressed by the range of preview pieces he secured both regionally and nationally as well as very busy press night – which more than exceeded our expectations in the number of national press who reviewed. I would not hesitate to work with Duncan again or to recommend to anyone looking to secure wide ranging and quality press coverage.
Charlotte Rachwal, Octagon Theatre Bolton
Utterly beyond our expectations. The amount of care, attention and regular, concise, collaborative communication was flawless.
From fulfilling the brief perfectly and managing the press on the night with our venues, and audiences we wouldn’t hesitate to (and already have) recommend Duncan ClarkePR.
National TV, Regional TV, National printed press, Regional Radio, regional press and blogs – everything and more.
Pete Toon, Producer, Mikron Theatre
Duncan Clarke was a central part of the success of Blood and Chocolate, his work was pivotal in spreading the word of not just what we were doing but also crucially why we were doing it. His expertise in shaping that discussion was a huge part of Blood and Chocolate’s success and I look forward to working with him again. Alan Lane, Artistic Director – Slung Low
Duncan delivered a wide spread of local, regional and national press, both previews and reviews across newspapers, radio and TV. He worked tirelessly on the Blood and Chocolate project and his commitment and professionalism helped to deliver a sell out runLaura Clark, Producer – Slung Low
Duncan always goes above and beyond. Whatever project we have worked with Duncan on, he has delivered beyond what is expected and he does so with humour, creativity and complete professionalism. He is always generous with advice and guidance as to what might make a good story but will always listen to any ideas we offer and work with us to achieve the best possible outcome. He is a fantastic communicator and quite simply gets the job done and done to the highest standard. I would have no hesitation in recommending Duncan Clarke PR, his knowledge of the sector is invaluable to us and he feels like a member of the team. Pilot Theatre
Working with Duncan on the LBT’s recent Christmas show Rapunzel has been a delight. His ideas, creativity and work ethic have been absolutely invaluable to us at our busiest and most important time of the year. Duncan consistently went the extra mile for us and was clearly enthusiastic about his work. Most importantly, he delivered great results, as we received some of our best press coverage with this show. Through his work and guidance Duncan has also helped us to form relationships with press that I am confident we can develop in the future. I am already thinking about how and when I can use him again. Laura Rodwell, Head of Marketing -Lawrence Batley Theatre, Huddersfield
Duncan Clarke PR has given us invaluable support on our recent small-scale national tour of new play In Doggerland. He not only met the brief but far exceeded our expectations: gaining invaluable local, regional and national press exposure that pays dividends in gaining attention for the production. His hard work ensured we had a lot of quality pre-press publicity in the form of interviews, previews and features as well as a great number of reviewers, including our first national review. For a small team like Box of Tricks, such PR support is essential and Duncan felt like a member of our team, absolutely committed to the project. We look forward to the next opportunity to work with him. Adam Quayle, Box of Tricks
There is no doubt in my mind that Duncan Clarke is at the top of his profession. I have never met anyone so dedicated to the cause, so willing to go the extra mile and such a professional. I am convinced that his input has been the makings of many successful productions.Sam Freeman – Marketing Manager, Unity Theatre

Duncan Clarke PR is much more than a PR company. Enthusiastic, imaginative, productive and results driven, he is an absolute pleasure to work with. Duncan is never afraid to go the extra mile
Duncan understands exactly what we want to achieve and is always available to advise and help. His professionalism and courtesy is very much appreciated, and nothing is ever too much trouble for him.We are delighted to be working with Duncan and look forward to a long and happy working relationship.Sue Andrew, General Manager, Northern Broadsides
I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending Duncan and hope to work with him again in the future. His eye for detail, real understanding of what makes a good story and infectious enthusiasm means it’s a real pleasure working with him. M6 have been delighted to work with Duncan Clarke, he has achieved results way beyond our expectations, particularly under such a short timeframe. With Duncan’s expert help our national tour of One Little Word has received strong targeted editorial and review coverage across a range of media including – newspapers, magazines, radio and online. Duncan is not only professional but really lovely to work with and we would thoroughly recommend him for Press Consultancy (as long as he always keeps some free space for M6 in his diary!!) Deborah Palmer ACA – M6 Theatre Company
I can’t say enough to emphasize what a fantastic job Duncan has done for imitating the dog on Kellerman. We had specific aims in terms of PR with this project which we set out together at the start of our time working together and Duncan worked tirelessly, enthusiastically and ingeniously to ensure that everything was done to fulfil these aims: to build our profile and put the work in front of relevant reviewers from the national press. Not only did he secure us reviews in The Guardian, The Observer, The Times and Metro alongside many local papers and theatre publications but he also brought in journalists, media contacts and reviewers who he knew wouldn’t write about us at this stage but would be interested in seeing the work and starting a relationship. Despite our short contract his view was always for the long-term development of the company and he worked well beyond the call of duty to ensure good audiences in all venues. Duncan is a pleasure to work with and I can’t give him a greater compliment than this: we won’t be looking anywhere else for a press officer in the near future.
Simon Wainwright – Imitating the Dog Theatre Company
Duncan’s proficiency as Communications Manager at York Theatre Royal was such that I always felt entirely confident that our department’s PR work was, quite simply, covered. His campaigns were rigorous, imaginative and shot through with a winning dose of humour. The theatre’s media contacts liked him a lot – an invaluable asset – and always took notice. There’s no doubt that our TMA Achievement in marketing award in 2008 was due, in large part, to Duncan and his work.Antony Dunn, Head of Communications, York Theatre Royal, 2007-2008, Now Head of Communications at Yorkshire Dance
Duncan is one of the very best press officers I have ever come across. He appreciates how difficult and how nerve wracking it can be to properly review a show. He makes everyone feel welcome and comfortable, all information is to hand and seating requirements are no problem. I can appreciate how self- centred, and rude, some of the more flamboyant critics can be, but Duncan remains unflappable. Many press officers are difficult to get hold of, especially on the morning following a press night, when critics can get anxious about small but important details. Duncan seems always to be available. Duncan is also tip top with his knowledge of the workings and achievements of other departments. This is a consistent weakness in just about every other press officer I deal with. One of the delights of life is discovering people who have been put on the earth for a purpose – Duncan’s purpose is clearly to be a Public Relations/ Press Officer. He does it so very well.Kevin Berry – Contributing Editor – The Stage, Member of the UK Critics’ Circle and The British Music Hall Society, Award winning feature writer
Duncan Clarke was recommended to us an excellent Press and PR Consultant. The afternoon was invaluable. Duncan came well prepared with contact lists and a folder full of ideas for our new season. He confidently advised us on the development and management of media relationships and strategies for securing national and regional coverage. The most striking feature of the session was the sheer verve with which Duncan conducted it. He is extraordinarily imaginative and the breath of ideas which he generated inspired us all to get excited about what could be achieved and how creative we could be.Victoria Firth – Director of Lawrence Batley Theatre
Northern Broadsides recently enjoyed some of the best press coverage it has ever had thanks to the energy, dynamism and sheer persistence of York Theatre Royal’s talented press officer, Duncan Clarke. At the world premiere of The Man with Two Gaffers, Duncan produced a full house of national and regional press. Furthermore, we enjoyed good national feature coverage, extensive and imaginative regional press coverage as well as regional radio and TV. I truly believe Duncan was born to be a press officer and he’s a pleasure to work with to boot!
Lisa Baxter – Marketing Manager – Northern Broadsides
Pilot Theatre, as a Resident Company at York Theatre Royal, worked closely alongside Duncan on all our co-productions when he was Communications Manager. These included a range of work from large to small scale, classic to contemporary – such as Lord of the Flies, Looking for JJ, age/sex/location? East is East, Walking the Tightrope, Beautiful Thing, Road, Abigail’s Party – all with an emphasis on raising the profile of both the Company and work for Children and Young People in general. Duncan is reliable, imaginative and pays great attention to detail. He has a clear and positive relationship with press contacts and colleagues in the industry and a depth of knowledge and experience which is extremely valuable to any client.
